I have worked with Robert Shugrue, over 5 years at IBM corporation. Robert is just one of the individuals that is always a pleasure to work with. His personality and expertise are not something you find every day. In my over than 30 years in Information technology, I have not worked with a person of his skill set and caliber. Robert is the go-to person, and always willing to go over and above no matter how many hours it takes. He is always first to volunteer, in any situation.
We have worked together on several over 500m dollar projects. The complete infrastructure change related to SAN environment in two data centers. This was a project delayed over 7 years, and due to the customer not ever wanting an outage. Roberts countless hours working with the customer, and reassurance, the customer agreed to all the changes. Took approximately one year and 6 months of a team of 20 people working on this, and Robert being a primary key person to the success. Working every week and weekend of over 75 hours a week. Constant review during the week to be set up for each weekend. When finished the customer had a dinner for all personnel and letters to the company that we exceeded their level of expectations. This is just one of many projects, of Roberts involvement.
I cannot stress enough, with your selection of Robert for position he is seeking with your company. One can never put a person’s level of devotion, skills, personality, and drive that a company needs in an individual to make sure support is always there, for their internal and external customer. I have worked with Robert for about 5 years on the Amtrak account, Robert was the SME for Storage and during the that time we went through an Enterprise-wide storage upgrade from cabling to XIV's. This would not have been possible without Robert. I worked with Robert on a number SAN changes, from simple LUN adds to more complex cluster adds and Robert has been perfect.
